Front:

Saint Christopher carrying Infant Christ According to legends, St. Christopher carried a child across a turbulent river to safety. Not knowing it was Christ, he was later associated with protection for travelers.Today Christopher is a popular saint amongst surfers, many of whom wear and carry these medals.

Cross and arms with large “M”. The twelve stars represent the Apostles and crown of stars encircling the head of the woman in the sky (referred to in the book of Revelations) The two hearts represent the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart.

This is known as the Medal of Our Lady of Graces or Miraculous medal.

The Miraculous medal was designed in the 19th century after a vision of the Virgin Mary appeared to Catherine, instructing her to spread the word of grace to a world that did not have enough of it.
